7-2-07 meeting

TO DO:
CC:
  • Beach exit scene with the following: how many map pieces, map of island of misery, exit – save and exit
  • Mock up all the courtyard for all the games.
  • New game load screen, selecting of avatar new or load)
  • Play a new game scene
  • Powder Monkey (PM) add hint "Try testing just the metal type first, with no spikes, Effect or coating" - This hint will appear after 4 tries in a row without using a constant.
  • PM Remove the “no effect” selection. Across the board should never have no effect.
  • PM First cannonball successfully, we need the parrot to pop up and say, "Good Work... you tested one thing at a time... just like scientists do in an experiment".
  • PM After the second succesful cannonball, the parrot needs to pop up and say "Excellent... each of the changes in the canonball are called 'variables'. IT's good to test just one variable at a time".
  • PM the parrot doesn't work for clicking for help
  • Tiki remove the jumping monkey at end of game.
  • Tiki remove far outside of temple fly in scene. Start with in hallway and goes into the courtyard
  • Tiki monkey get map when they reach the post blender level. Keep the levels after the map reward level.

  • Powder Monkey add the number of % damage next to the damage amount bar. Kids were not catching the connection to % and the damage amount bar.

BACKGROUND MUSIC Here's our decisions on music:
Already Have/Don't Need:
  • Main menu/avatar selection (Pirate Theme Loop)
  • End credit possibly use the (Pirate Theme Loop)
  • Below decks on the boat (Pirate 3B)
  • Above decks on the boat (No music, just ambient noise)
  • Ghost Ship Cave and Ghost Ship Courtyard (Dead and Bony) (All courtyards will either have same music as game or ambient only)
  • Tiki Temple, Tiki Temple Finish, and Tiki Temple Courtyard. Will this be the existing music?
  • Powder Monkey Cave easy and hard music - (Easy is same as tiki temple) Design a cannonball on a baby, then big boss battle with the mommy.
  • We'll use the song from the Tiki Temple Finish for all the Game finishes. If we don't like that, we'll revisit a musical hit.

Need
  • Walk around music for beaches. Need light, very etheral and easy-to-ignore music. We'll use this in all the beaches. Will the Cliff top, dock use same music?
  • Experiment design music. Very easy to ignore... light but challenging. They could be listening to this for 15 minutes, so it should be very backgroundy.
  • What we'll need when we need more:
  • •Experiment victory song.-- Overnight scene for experiment (maybe, we'll see)
  • Brownbeard ship battle.
Other music:
  • Pirate 2 not using
  • Pirate 3 not using
  • Pirates 4: talking about using when the ship heads off to BB liar – hold off since we don’t have animations for BB liar

OPENING DIALOGUE: Here is our cut dialog. Let's start with this... we can edit as needed, but let's start with this:

Ah, so ye come seeking adventure and pirate treasure, eh? Sure’n ye’ve come to the wrong place.

Captain Brownbeard rules these waters now. Cursed us he has… all who oppose him fall with a sickness in their bowels.

So, I asks ye this: do ye have what it takes to break… the Curse of Captain Brownbeard?

MECHANICS OF GAME
How do we “award” map pieces – through the courtyard scenes for each game.
All 3 games will finish in their own unique courtyard which will have the treasure with the map piece.

How do track inventory
From the beach click on the “info button” next to the floating exit button. From the info window it will show
- how many map pieces
- map of island of misery, layout of the island
- exit – save and exit


What does exiting in every activity look like– exit through the courtyard
If player quits anytime in the middle of level they will have to restart the level when they come back.

How/when do you save game - every time you exit auto saves game.
Saving pirates – how to actually save game for each student.

How do we tell user that 3 map pieces takes them to BrownBeard
Dialogue with pirates – write down what questions

GAME UPDATES:
Each game will have its own unique courtyard

TIKI TEMPLE game revised
  • Remove the jumping monkey at end of game. At end of game it will return the player to courtyard

POWDER MONKEY game revised
The courtyard will have access to:
  • Entrances to each monster battle
  • One that goes to chest with treasure
  • Back to beach
Easy level Baby game and hard level mom continuous
